Stuck...

How many times have you said the following?

  • "I feel stuck"
  • "I don't know what to do"
  • "Is this it?"
  • "Why is it so much easier for everyone else?"

Sound familiar? It’s ‘OK’ and perfectly normal to have said any if not all of the above statements at some point or another.

What is important is the length of time that is spent in these un-resourceful states.

When your internal dialogue tips into ‘Stinking Thinking’ or you feel like a ‘Negative Nelly’ it can create the feeling of being STUCK however rest assured, as this is not permanent even though it may feel like it at the time.

So the million-dollar question is…

Q: How can I become UNSTUCK?

4 Top Tips To Being Resourceful:

  • Listen to the quality of your thoughts and conversations.
  • Do you sound like someone who is trying to move in the right direction or change your situation for the better?
  • Are you using negative or positive language in dialogue with yourself or others?
  • Are you surrounding yourself with the right people or are you joining the water cooler brigade who focus on gossip and finger pointing?

Stay strong and believe in yourself as the answer is within you.

  • Are you focusing on something so much that you forget everything else around you?
  • Are you fuelling a situation to the point that it blows out of proportion and becomes all encompassing?

It’s easily done. STOP IT. Search and find a positive and hold onto it. Start reminding yourself about what you do like and more importantly WHY you like it.

Use your peripheral vision. Spend times on the multiple other things that are going on around you. You do not need to pour all your energy into one circumstance.

  • What do I want?
  • Why do I want it?
  • When do I want it by?
  • Where will it take me?
  • What resources do I have available to me to support me with my goal?
  • Who will support me on my journey?
  • What are the potential barriers and how can I overcome them?
  • Create a formula for success and milestones to celebrate along the way.
  • Move with purpose by acting out the necessary tasks in order to get you to your end result.
  • Evaluate along the way.
  • Offer encouragement to yourself.

When you feel stuck go to your notebook and remind yourself of your starting point, your intentions and purpose.

Ask yourself the question: “Will the end result be worth it?” If the answer is YES then it’s time to keep moving.

If the answer is NO then you need to understand what has changed and why. Potentially a tweaking of your goal is in order.

There is a fine line between talking out a problem with the aim to fixing it or simply MOANING about your situation.  I have news for you, moaning will not fix anything, FACT. Use your energy to focus on FIXING (solutions) and not adding fuel to provoke the problem fire.
